If Your Marriage Were A Boat…
Have you ever thought of your marriage as a boat?
Maybe, but probably not. I never did until August of this year as my husband and I celebrated our 1-year anniversary. I found myself thanking God for our first year of marriage and all the ways we’ve grown together.
Then, I began to ask God about our second year of marriage. In that moment, I believe the Lord gave me the word “Anchor” and a picture of a boat.
Next thing you know, I found myself in Hebrews 6 reading verse 19, “We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf…”
Picture your marriage as a boat. Are the waves calm? Is there a storm in your midst?
Anchors are great for calm water — to keep us still so we can bask in the sun. And, they’re critical when the waves do hit. When your marriage is tied firmly to the anchor that is Christ, the boat will move in a circle around the anchor.
It is the anchor that keeps us steady. Jesus is the anchor.
He has gone as a forerunner on our behalf — blazing the way for us to experience life everlasting and, with that, daily sanctification.
Today, ask Jesus to be present with you in the boat, to keep you fixated on Him no matter the weather, and to place your trust in Him to meet and exceed your needs.
Until next time,
